Sources close to the ownership group indicate that their investment model, which uses third-party loan providers, is structured for long-term sustainability and projects an increase in revenue.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire noted that Chelsea would have examined the rules to ensure compliance, suggesting they aim to sell more players.
Transfer market activity and squad management
Following the signing of Rogers, Chelsea’s transfer market activity is not expected to conclude. The club has explored various defensive options, including discussions regarding Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix and showing interest in former Manchester City defender John Stones and Como’s Jacobo Ramon. They are also in talks with Rayo Vallecano for full-back Pep Chavarria.
With several pre-agreed signings since the start of 2025, and Dastan Satpaev expected to join from FC Kairat in August, Chelsea currently has a large number of senior players. His average minutes per game were lower than those of Rogers and Emiliano Buendia in the same position for Villa last season. Garnacho’s playing style, which often involves staying wide, might require tactical adjustments to Unai Emery’s system at Aston Villa.
