Who are the Nova Twins?

The Nova Twins are musicians who have blended groove, punk vitality, and a hint of rap-rock, infused with a frenzied bassline to craft their unique sound. They are not merely a typical rock band, but rather a formidable duo. Their sound is characterised by its impulsive and dynamic nature — a touch cheeky, somewhat raw, and, most importantly, very vibrant.

The foundation of the project is formed by Amy Love (vocals, guitar) and Georgia South (bass, backing vocals). Having been friends since childhood, they came together in London in 2014, and their career has been swiftly progressing since then. Notably, Amy Love has Iranian and Nigerian heritage, while Georgia South has Jamaican and Australian ancestry. Additionally, Georgia South’s father is a musician.

Prior to adopting the name Nova Twins, the duo was known as BRAATS and released their initial tracks under that moniker. The rebranding allowed them to reassess their style and transition towards a more assertive and modern sound.

In the early phases, the band performed at various local venues in London, refining their live performance abilities. They composed their own original material.

The artists debuted their first single, titled ‘Bassline Bitch’, in April 2015. This track captured the interest of the independent label Robotunes, which subsequently signed them and released their self-titled first EP in 2016.

After their performance at the French festival Rencontres Trans Musicales in December 2016, Nova Twins spent a significant portion of 2017 touring multiple countries as support for Prophets of Rage. Following this, Tom Morello referred to them as “the best band you’ve never heard of”. The band later toured with Muse, Bring Me the Horizon, Little Simz, Yungblud, and other artists.

Throughout the years, the band has released a number of albums and showcased their talent at major festivals. They have supported prominent acts on tour, making a notable impact on the music scene. Their sound is frequently described as “urban punk with a club vibe, yet with a genuine rock guitar drive.”

Georgia South plays the bass guitar in an unconventional manner—her use of slides, string strikes, and unexpected percussive techniques creates a sound that is instantly identifiable. The bass provides Nova Twins’ tracks with that ‘raw and lively’ energy. Amy and Georgia take inspiration from London’s streets: graffiti, the urban environment, and vibrant elements—all of which are reflected in their album artwork and stage presence.

Beyond their music, the duo actively advocates for equality and inclusivity. They aim to demonstrate to young individuals that the rock scene is welcoming to everyone, irrespective of gender or background. Their lyrics address significant topics: identity, mental health, racism, sexism, and gender inequality, approached in a manner that feels like a personal, lived experience rather than a dry lecture.

In 2017, Nova Twins introduced their own custom clothing line, named Bad Stitches.
